I'm not going to mention any supplier names, but someone I know ordered tires online, and got an extremely good deal, but when he went to the local tire shop to have the tires installed onto his rims, they asked him if he was aware that the tires were expired! 
Yes that's right expired. I'm sure most of you know that tires do have a shelf life, even if they have never had a mile on them. I'm sure most of you know how to tell the expiry date on your tires, but just in case, here's a link to a site that tells a bit about decoding the expiry date on tires.

And just to add, I wouldn't get too worked up about new "expired" tires. If they have been warehoused properly, out of the sunlight and kept at a reasonable temperature, they will be fine.
Heck, I've run on "expired" race tires on the track, and I'm still here to talk about it.

^^ You're absolutely right, but if I'm spending 200-300 a tire, mine better not be expired, and realistically the tire shop shouldn't be selling them as well. But yeah your right, I doubt there would be any issues.
Exactly, if you're paying the money for premium tires, they should be fairly fresh production. I've seen on Tire Rack's site a few times looking at specific sizes of tires, they will show "200x" production or the like to indicate that the tires are older stock. Usually they are discounted too!

If expiry dates don't matter, why are they even there ? Got to be there for a reason I'm thinkin' , I'm sure they're good for quite a while when it comes to tires, so that stock must have been sitting around for some time. Better to sell them and get some use out of them instead of just scrapping them, and I'm sure they were OK, it's not like bread that's gone past it's expiry date. But, you'd think the seller would at least SAY they were outdated, but then I guess no one would be too keen on buying them, so good deal if they're discounted and sold as older stock up front. I can see both sides of the arguement from here.
