Tires are round black things; come in sizes indicated like P255/55/ZR20 Explained very well here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...150227194322:s Wheels ("rims" colloquialism) are what the tires are mounted on and these wheels with tires are attached to the hub or spindle.
