I have absolutely no desire for an aftermarket cam as this car will see boost,
I've thought about having the pistons fly-cut, but 1) i don't know anyone who has had this done so I'm leary, and 2) I don't even know anyone who would do it with the motor still in the car (I didn't even think that was possible lol).
Another reason I'm not interested in a cam is because I'm planning staying speed density (even when i boost it ) and I've seen people run well into the 11s personally with the stock cam and have heard of much faster...

Staying SD with boost is not that big a deal. Done it before. I'm changing to Mass air basically to go with larger injectors and dump the FMU. The stock cam is a good choice for a blower motor.
Lots of people have had their pistons flycut. I know J&P, when they were together used to do it. Mine will be getting done this year as I'm going with AFR's. Shops can do it with the motor in the car. I'll be removing my motor and taking it to Beatty & Woods, because I also have a custom cam, and some other goodies to go on the motor, and it'll be easier for them to do it. I also found out that flycutting is not that expensive. Well under $200. It almost costs that for the proper tools to do it. Those bits are expensive.

jmboss actually pm'd me the other day about flycutting, letting me know that his shop in brantford which is not far from me does it with the motor still in the car for around 200 bucks. I'm gonna have to think about it for sure.

we installed some afr heads last summer on schlodes' car, and the thing screams now. i'm gonna have to think about it seriously now lol....

Don't think too hard. My buddy put the TW heads on his 8r with a TF intake. The car is totally different and he still runs the stock cam. The TW's are good heads and will fit an 86, no probs.

I did some serious looking at the Twisted Wedges, I checked out the summit catalog too, and they have a couple efi kits...there flow numbers are pretty good too....I may end up doing that in the end. I think the financial situation this summer is going to limit me to either schlodes' untouched e7 heads, or maybe if i can get the money a set of thumper ported e7 heads...

Ok, this is just my opinion, but I wouldn't waste my time with stock heads...E7's. Just save your cash and do the heads once. Why spend cash on a similar mod twice. It's not like a stock 87 and up will walk away from you and by adding E7's, you won't walk away from them either. The 86's with their crappy heads are plenty fast, as far as stock goes. They just run out of gas a little sooner then the E7's. A good exhaust with headers etc., will help them out alot. Good luck with whatever way you choose to go.

Schlodes' untouched e7s wouldn't cost me a dime....he said they're mine to use if i want to....they are better than the e6 heads, and once I accomplish my goal of a 12 second pass with them I have no real desire to keep them.

Don't give in...... Cut stock upper in half, install 1.94 in E6 and let me know how far in the 12's the 86 goes.......end of story.
