2016 Shelby GT350

2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 unveiled, ready to hunt Z/28s - Road & Track

The engine breathes better as a result, and Ford says that this 5.2 is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine the company has ever produced. Final output is still under wraps, but Ford says we should expect more than 500 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Seems like a real outside the box thing for Ford. And that exhaust note...

def67 11-18-2014 10:01 AM

Should be about vette price! But if I win the lotto I'll get one.

thetrousertrout 11-18-2014 11:39 AM

For sale: 2 kids, left nut and a Kidney...

ChadStang 11-18-2014 11:40 AM

I'm sure everyone will be up in arms about 100+ less horsepower than the outgoing SVT car but by the looks of it this will be twice the car. I had an 07 GT500 and to be honest it really didn't impress me all that much. I liked my 12 Boss 302 far better. I think this is a step in the right direction, and chances are the motor will be able to handle some aftermarket boost anyway!

herbz 11-18-2014 12:31 PM

Its at a much more streetable, useable power. I think Ford, and GM have shifted to an overall complete package from who can make the most power. I'm sure Dodge will follow suit with something once they get the Hellcats off the lots.

milner_7 11-19-2014 04:15 PM

I'm pretty sure Ford will come out with something to smoke the HellCat and whatever GM brings to the table

milner_7 11-19-2014 08:50 PM

I want one!!!!

1low03gt 11-20-2014 07:20 PM

Very hot!! Like what i see so far!

Autonut 11-25-2014 04:51 AM

I asked my wife to place an order for one. She said " I'll get right on that" and I believe her. :D

Ohtobbad 11-29-2014 08:17 AM

I am going to have one :) Rumoured starting price, 52,800 US
Plus tech pack, track pack, fully loaded version looks close to 68,000 Cad.
But a 500 + NA 8200 rpm, beast if you ask me.

I am going to take a bath selling my 08 GT/CS

Apocalypse Pony 11-29-2014 01:00 PM

$68000 taxes in, or $68000 plus taxes? Either way, it's only money, if you got the means to pull it off, I say do it. As far as taking a bath on the GT/CS, you won't be thinking about it when you put your butt in the GT350 and turn the key. I got a feeling somehow at that point it will be "GT what, what GT/CS?". lol I'd take one in a minute.

Your likely right, I have a huge amount of time, mods and money in my
current car, but by the sound of the 5.2 FPC exhaust, the loses will wash away
with the first time I start it, if that don't do it, hitting 8200 rpm, should clear the rest away. Can't wait.

Apocalypse Pony 11-08-2015 11:16 AM

Old topic I know, insert crypt keeper pics here lol, but wow is this car a hot topic on some of the 'Murican forums. Guys screaming about dealer markups and bidding wars, its pretty entertaining reading. Especially when you get the regular GT owners baiting the Shelby-ites by saying they enjoy their cars and they're like $25000 less money, and that they can get the same performance for less money with mods. ha ha ha ha LMAO Wow, do the Shelby-ites get hot about that.

Ohtobbad 11-08-2015 01:47 PM

I drove the GT350R at Sebring and I have driven the GT
I am sure you could make it as fast for the same kind of money.
But you will never get anywhere near this car in
complete package with a GT and 20 k.
It is amazing.

Apocalypse Pony 11-08-2015 02:02 PM

Drove a 350R at Sebring? Holy Sweet Jebus man, how did your wife let you sell your first born to do that? lol Seriously great opportunity, how did you score it? Better yet, did you take any pics? And third, does it really sound as sweet in car as it does on all the videos out there? PS, I've seen your name on the previously mentioned forums, but I won't tell anyone. lol Any updates on when yours is going to show up? I would need the two back seats, and leather, so I guess the plain old GT350 with the Tech package might be for me.

LOL, I got lucky and was on wait list for Performance track tour.
So had to buy tickets, etc to Florida, but rest was paid for by Ford.
I will post more, I am away for a few days, will add some pics also.
But the sound is far better in person, as is the car.
Performance, is far better than I could have hoped for.:D

I ordered this car in June, originally was expecting winter/ spring delivery.
I got VIN number in August with original build date of Sept14. Well since then it has moved out 5 times, and latest was was Dec.7, then it moved back to Nov. 27th.
So odds are if I get it this year it will be sitting in garage til spring.
With all the hype with this car, I have read everything and will admit I was over the top
with expectations. When I got the opportunity to go to Sebring for the North American Ford
track tour, I had to do it. ( I had not even seen it in person before this)
I got there, the car does look incredible, sounds wicked and once pushed
the sound is unlike anything in this world, best description is a V-8 sound with an Italian
accent :) I got 4 laps in a R and another 3 laps with instructor. This car far outdoes my expectations, from about 3500rpm's it pulls hard right to read line.
When your mind says shift ( about 6000) its a long way to go :)
The brakes are incredible, handling is unbelievable. So yes I am happy.
A few pics.

Awesome pics, looks like it was a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing!! I haven't seen any bad reviews on this car yet, most of the automotive press has been raving about it. Can't wait to hear and see one in person.

Ohtobbad 11-10-2015 03:05 PM

It was a blast and if you ever get the chance to do one of these events, bite the
bullet and go, you will not regret it.

Heres another good review and interesting read.
The 2016 Road & Track Performance Car of the Year

herbz 11-10-2015 05:30 PM

Interesting read ^^^

I didn't read it all, skimmed for the Mustang parts.

That's a beast. 8.9 seconds to 100mph. Being mentioned in the same breath Corvette, Viper and Ferrari is quite something for a Mustang.

I've read several pieces on the GT350 and all of them mention the flat crank sound.

Apocalypse Pony 11-11-2015 03:19 AM

I watched one video, think it was Motor Trend, and they got 55 mph out of first gear. Strapped it to a dyno, and you can see where the torque takes off around 3500rpm, and horsepower peaks around 7500rpm or so. You get exclusive, low production numbers with the R, but you pay the extra bucks to take out the back seat, delete the A/C and radio, and add those carbon fibre wheels to save some weight. The regular GT350 gets all the same fixings under the hood, and all the good bits of the suspension if you add the Tech package. Less money and easier to get, relatively speaking. lol The more I see of this car, the more I'm impressed.

It's going to be a blast, can't wait to see it. I think there are some 350's getting delivered to Canada. Anyone see one here yet?

Apocalypse Pony 11-15-2015 11:06 AM

Haven't seen one yet, but on that one American site, some poor little rich kid in Waterloo left his wife on the beach in the Turks (whatever that is), and flew home, made sure he mentioned he took a limo, and then picked up his. Not pretentious in the least. lol Check this out.....what a douche.

So I get a call around noon on Saturday…my new 2016 GT350 Mustang has just been unloaded at Parkway Ford in Waterloo Ontario. What the hell am I doing in Turks I ask myself?

If I get to the airport in just over an hour... I can fly to Waterloo. No more direct flights until next Saturday…

Not a tough decision…bye sweetie, see you in a week. Oh yes…can you pack me some stuff?

I am off…

I get on the plane (Westjet)

I get to top of ramp, step on plane…the flight attendant asks me why I am smiling ear to ear...

In a loud enthusiastic voice I say I am real car guy…my dealer says he just pulled my new mustang off the trailer and I am flying home to drive it! Everybody who hears me start clapping and laughing…. I am stoked!

I end up in a row with a couple of nice teens who are taking a POTCAKE puppy (rescue dog) back to Ottawa. 17 year Oliver and i talk about cars the whole way back…flight touches down ..we are still talking... Limo scoots me off. For once driver knows his way.

I get to Waterloo around 8pm. I forgot my key…can’t get in...go to Bauer Kitchen. Grab a Guinness. Try to figure out how yo change sim card in my phone so i can call my Sis and let he know I am at front door. Cant figure it out. Borrow phone. Sis is home. finish Guinness.

My sis is staying at our condo. She has supper made. awesome omelette. The second Guinness tastes REALLY good.

Wake up at 3am..i am "spooled up.."

Eventually the rest of world wakes up…Sis and I have breakfast at nearby restaurant…great. eggs…fruit..links…wheat bread…coffee (all my favs)

We head off to church…Unity Church…lots of singing…cool band…the kind of stuff my Sis and I both like. I am thinking business all through sermon and I think I dozed off for a minute. More singing. I leave a little more relaxed. Its a sunny beautiful day.

We head to Parkway Ford, its a Sunday and Its closed but maybe I can see it somewhere. Good luck if its in the back yard. It will be distant.

We pull up near service entrance…big overhead doors...and Sis sees it parked in service area. Doors locked. But I can see it…lucky me. Looks awesome. Cant get close…reflections in glass giving me problems.

Time to go…get in Lincoln. We leave property...dont get far..hold it lets check out movie times on my iPhone …we are close to movie theatre…there is a new Tom Hanks movie out. Next showing is later ..lets head out to the Irish pub for a beer…then go to Movie..

My sister has never turned down an Irish pub in her life (me neither)...

I am literally turning out of driveway beside the Ford dealership when…honk honk honk!…its the sales manage that sold me the car. His kid is having a birthday party and he needed to stop by the shop and get helium for the balloons!

So we spend next hour inside the service area bays, with the car! Starting it up. Taking pics…talking about it. Checking out everything mechanical….

Here are the pics I took http://s1221.photobucket.com/user/ma...elby%20Mustang

I dont know what the moral of this story is…perhaps my first time in church in a long while had something to do with it…or perhaps I am just a lucky bastard …but today (or tomorrow) after this car is prepped I will be driving around KW (and Muskokas likely) with the biggest damn smile on my face you have ever seen…and for just a while the rest of the world and all its problems will seem distant…

def67 11-15-2015 12:30 PM

Turks and Kakos Islands I'd imagine, lol. Rough life!

Apocalypse Pony 11-15-2015 04:36 PM

Trust fund baby/family money likely, here's a supposed list of rides in his sig. Nope, nothing pretentious about that. lol More power to him, at least he got one.

There was once a time in my life when I did all that. But I grew up and got out of the sandbox, put my toys away. Now I'm living in the real world, I think. :headscrat

Ohtobbad 11-17-2015 04:47 AM

I am on the same forum as him. He doesn't brag or go about what he has.
So who knows. Good on him if can afford all those toys.
I can't, unless I win the lottery, but I do have a couple of friends who could.
I work my butt off for what I get and not nearly that much.
But hey thats life.

I think you and I are living in the same world. I have worked for everything I own. No silver spoon here. I could buy a GT 350, but I would not be able to retire as soon as I would like if I did. By the time I finished paying for it, I would be in a old age home and the grandkids would be enjoying it. Now I know that's not going happen. :nospaz:

LOL, I am on the freedom 90 plan, and I have been dreaming of a car like this
my whole life. To be honest never thought I would be in a position to own it.
I guess hard work does pay off, hmm father was right again:roll eyes:

We had a few of them show up at the dealership in Waterloo ON last week. They look and sound pretty badass.

Parkway right? Any more orders coming in for 2016's, or are they done?

Ohtobbad 11-18-2015 04:07 PM

Not sure about Ontario, but 2 dues anyday now in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. and 2
more in Dec. Here they are being sold for MSRP.

Their are 35 SVT dealers in Canada, each get allocation for 15 GT350's and 1R
for 2016. No 2015's were sold in Canada.

Those are pretty good numbers I'd say, I'm sure southern Ontario has a good number of those SVT dealers. Population wise versus cars available makes the chances of getting one at MSRP in Canada a whole lot better than the US. Well, we take a beating with the exchange and all, but thats interesting, thanks for posting those numbers up. Verrrrrry interesting.

PS - I'm over it with that other dudes attitude, I truly feel a touch sorry for him, but he'll grow up someday, just like the rest of us did. lol Apologies to the members for going off the rails a bit. WTH, at least I can speak my mind.

I don't think so roddy, that's one of my favourite video reviews, its lengthy by youtube standards, 20 min or so, but worth taking the time to watch if you're a fan.

Cool videos, some neat stuff out their. Now starting to be in the hands of owners.
Nothing like real world feed back, from everyday folks.

I am excited, after Ford moving build date around 9 times.
I found window sticker today. Normally those don't show until, ford is ready to build.
current date: 11/23/15 so monday if nothing goes south.
