Neither the '01 nor the '18 (if they build it) are close.
I think the nostalgia is a great marketing tool though for old and new mustang enthusiasts alike.
I agree though that too much dilutes the rarity of it.
A one or two year model run per generation platform is the max they should do of any CS, Bullitt, Mach 1, Boss, etc....

That being said now.....In my opinion, the new edge Bullitt ('01) was retro enough for me as it also had the modern touches moving forward to the future, and it was very clean looking. The '05 to '13 had some good stuff come out like the Boss 302's, GT 500's, and California Specials, but other then that, meh.Yes I do like what some guys/gals have done with these year models.... no argument there, but Ford went backwards, and for good reason obviously...... sales, which peeked the interest of all those baby boomers again...... Yes some of the young like it too, I know!!!
When it comes to the '08/'09 Bullitt, I don't think it was even worth it's price tag.
Now with the current model, again it's the right move with retro, and modern touch, but to bring back the Bullitt name plate again, that I do not agree. Just another way for Ford to take advantage of a brand name for the pocket book.
We are all gonna have our opinions, and most us will not agree, which is very fair, but that's what keeps this hobby moving. Would be pretty boring if we all liked the same thing now wouldn't it.

Conundrum! I like some of the new things coming out in the '18. Sport exhaust butterfly, magneride, digital dash, 10 speed auto however....
I am a convertible fan, I don't want a fastback. For some time now you were not able to buy an automatic and the performance package at the same time - because people in auto 'verts don't want to stop as fast as people in fastbacks with Brembos or something like that. People in live rear axle Mustangs need Brembos so they don't drive into crowds.
I hope they make this a doable option in '18 - also I would love to have a Mach 1 'vert too.
I have an '11 auto 'vert without the Brembos and I think I might like them better, the stock brakes I find are a little grabby at times.
I'll be on the Ford website weekly looking for Build & Price options!

You can configure a car - on the USA website - now.
2018 Ford Mustang - Build & Price
I was up to just over $58,000 for a fully loaded GT Premium convertible with almost every goody. However, in typical Ford fashion, you can't have the exact exterior and interior colours you want - it keeps setting it to black only on some colours.
Also the performance package only offers 1 set of black wheels, no other option, because you get the staggered wheel/tire sizes.
My original '11 price was $47,300 CAD before discounts but with fewer options.
