Most of the stuff I'm reading is that the GT350 will be produced for at least 5 years and the GT500 is coming in 2018 with GT350 front sheet metal (aluminum) and with north of 707HP. One will be for the road course and the other for the drag strip. The GT350 is on its 3rd year, although 2015 was a very limited production to match 1965 production numbers for the 50th anniversary. I believe those numbers were about 37 Rs and about 135 non R cars. 2016 saw about 700 Rs and almost 6000 non Rs. I'm not totally confident on these numbers as they do vary depending what you read.

I think it all comes down to sales, if people buy them, they will build them.

 

Interesting, makes sense to keep building if they're selling. I recall reading that first gen Raptor demand exceeded Fords expectations for sales, and they ended up doubling production numbers between 2011 and the last year in 2014.

With the new Raptor, you can apparently order from any dealer, doesn't have to be an SVT dealer, so I can see the same logic applied to the other niche vehicles like the GT350 or GT500.

I believe the north of 700 hp number for the GT500....the last model year was what? 650 something hp?

The GT350 is a good fit between the GT and the GT500, be interesting to see where the GT500 lands price wise.

 

The 13/14 GT500 had 662hp. Its a beast speaking as a past owner. Its issue was it could not manage its own power. Very hard to keep traction with those stock tires.

I hope to see the GT350 stay around for a while as its a perfect balance between power and handling...............and I want one

 

Raptors are only available from SVT dealers in Canada.

 

I think the biggest shortcoming on the 13-14 GT500 was the tires. Absolute garbage and way too narrow. A good set of tires would make all the difference, well until the clutch lets go. Then the game begins.

 

I would love an svt, or gt500, or whatever. But when it comes down to it. Right now, bang for the buck. The eco 4 banger mustang wins, hands down. Think about it, under 25g's, 350 hp and tq (with a tune), and lighter then any v8 mustang. The future is turbo, and ford is leading the way right now. I will take a turbo 6 over a v8 any day, and that is not muscle car?

Apparently not, depends on who you ask.

 

There is a least one in stock at Blackstock in Orangeville, ON and I don't believe that they are SVT, but I could be wrong. Or perhaps it's a dealer trade unit.

 

Here's the good news. Pretty much any mustang from here on will be better than the last and will only get better. Ford made a huge leap forward with the S550. My Urge to get a new one grows. I will happen but I remain patient. GT350 yes please.............

 

Balancing rumours of GT350, a new Mach 1 and the GT500......I think the GT350 production will end, Mach 1 production will start, and maybe the GT500 later.

Don't know how many specialty vehicles Ford Performance wants on their plate at once, I debate a five year run for the GT350, discounting the 2015 run, which no one could get thier hands on, I say 2018 is the last year.
