Here's a silly question - storing the Mustang in a storage facility which has no power so I am guessing a trickle charger won't be of much help without power. Could I not just jump the battery in the spring from my truck?

 

Yes, you could just jump it, but I'm gonna guess sitting for the winter and dying off can't be good for it. Why not pull the battery and store it at home until spring? That way you could keep it warm, and run a trickle charge?

You could do that but if a battery goes dead it will freeze and then it's junk. Best off to do what AP said. If you do take it home I've always been told not to leave a battery on concrete as apparently it will drain. I'm told a piece of cardboard underneath is all you need.

I agree with all of the above for battery maintenance/storage. One other safety consideration when storing a battery with a charger on it, they do give off a little hydrogen gas so store in a ventilated place.

 

great tip sire. I have been so lazy that my battery is still hooked up in the car and I have not covered it yet. At this rate I may just leave it and deal with the fallout next spring

 

I leave mine in the car hooked up with battery tender(hooded cracked) every winter(unheated attached garage). It's now going into it's 7th winter and tests out like new yet.
