For drag racing, do you want stiff suspension, or soft?

hell, i like the stock suspension, add a good panhard bar once you start pulling the tires..

I had mine setup with it stiff in the front and soft in the rear. V8 springs with Lakewood 90/10 (front) and 4 cyl springs with SS lower and 50/50 shocks (rear). I am currently changing my rear to coilovers and ladder bars to have a variety of options to work with. Just my .02

ok, i guess me question should be, are drag shocks/springs (ones that you buy) stiff or soft?

i always heard ppl didn't like to ride drag suspension because it was so bumpy on the street.

I did a customers car once with the Moroso Drag launch kit, and he said it was great at the track, but a really rough ride on the street. Not sure if you can have both strip traction and good street comfort

I think UPR just came out with a rear suspension that is great at the track and also good on the street

as you know, it's all about "PROPER" wieght transfer. I think a softer spring out back with a Proper shock, and a bit stiffer spring out front with a decent shock would be decent. obviousy to stiff out back might cause some wheel hop which isn't good.

this is just my opinion, these are not facts im just making and educated guess.

I think the main thing to remember is that most our cars are Street cars. I dont think i'd be willing to give up a decent ride for a few tenths of a second in the quarter, if the Drag setup is sooo shitty on the street

Drag springs are softer, much softer. Mix those with 90/10s and it will feel like you are on a boat going over waves.

I have used Strange springs and their adjustable struts/shock and love them. Never again a 70/30 or 90/10 front struts with 50/50 out back. I could drive it on the street and tune it for the strip with the strange stuff.... but it is still a little soft.

Some companies make drag springs that are not a soft as the strange ones.... I guess mid way between stock and the strange ones. At the very least.. always run an adjustable strut/shock..... and while you are in there, aftermarket rear control arms.

I have never had any luck with coilovers in my Mustangs drag racing. Never did anything but empty the wallet.
