MT-82 Transmission

Should I be scared now? i've been hearing problems about this transmission for the new mustangs ( haven't gotten mine yet not till new years) should I be worried? or is it like a break in cycle period that you need to follow? just wondering or should I just bail on it now and get a used GT500 with the Tremec sorry just a bit scared of this now.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've sold 6 or 7 now and none have had issues. You get 5 yrs powertrain warranty anyway. The 2010+ GT500s are known for some of their own trans issues.

Pre 2010 have clutch issues but post 2010 have an issue with a grind on the 1-2 shift under hard accelleration. If you haven't had the clutch TSB done it might be something you should look into. I had mine done just before I sold mine. I honestly liked the pedal feel of the original much better but the new style clutch is a big improvement as far as durability.

Mine seems fine but we have a 5 year power train warranty so I still have time

I don't think Fords have really been worse than anyone else. GM and Chrysler have had some pretty weak transmissions over the years as well. That being said I have never had a trans issue with any of my Stangs, or any of my vehicles for that matter. T5, T45, T56, as well as all kinds of autos and all were great for me.

Other than the glass third gear in the old T5s, I haven't had many Ford transmission issues.
