Well that certainly doesn't make me feel any better......Basically there's an issue, but the NHTSA is not doing anything about it. And as long as they don't do anything about it, you can be sure Ford isn't gonna do anything. Consumer gets it up the *** again. I really hope I don't run into problems with my transmission, but if you search it on the net, there are thousands of complaints.

I don't think I could buy one right now just because of the possible headaches. I have no doubt Ford will fix this under warranty but I do not like the idea of going to the dealer who knows how many times to iron out the problem

Oh ya!! There's a problem alright. I've had the problem for almost two years now. I've had the transmission fluid changed three times! There's been damage to the synchro's and the 2nd gear! All changed under warranty but the grinding into second gear or not even going into second gear is still there. I went to Ford last week to see what was going on and I was told that its normal for that transmission. Idle the car for 15 minutes when first starting it up and live with it. WTF!? I had to leave as I was extremely mad. The next day I got a call from the Dealership saying that they would continue to fix the problem under warranty. The problem is, they haven't found a solution yet. So here's the problem.. all 2011 and 2012 Mustangs (V6 and V8) have the german engineered, chinese built transmissions. When the tempature is around 5 degrees celcius or less, the transmission doesn't like to shift into second. The colder it gets, the worse the condition. I drive my Mustang all year round. Last winter, I had to bypass second gear all together because it was around -25 celcius where I lived. I'm hoping there's a solution soon. I wonder what there going to do for the 2013's. Try googling "2011 mustang transmission issues". Other than the tranny on cold days, awesome car!

Well if it only happens at 5 degrees or colder, I won't have any issues. I never drive mine in that cold of weather anyhow. I know a couple people who drive theirs year round, and have not had any issues, so not sure why it's such a hit n miss thing. The one guy from town here has a 2011 CS with the 6 speed, and no issues, and he has actually driven his almost all winter, due to the lack of snow.

If they're lucky, they won't have any problems. I hope you don't have any issues either. I just wish Ford would acknowledge the problem instead of pretending it doesn't exist. $40K on a car shouldn't have this kind of a problem.

Frustrating for sure. I hope a recall is issued soon.
