For model year 1974, you could not buy a Mustang with a V8 engine. Only the 2.3 I4 and 2.8 V6 were available.

And hopefully they learned from that mistake, and don't ever do that again. Nothing against 4 or 6 bangers, but it's nice to have the option of a V8

LOL, its a funny story. In 1984, Steve Saleen's secretary miscounted the Saleens coming off the production line. She miscounted number 6 as number 9. As a result, no Saleen with bumper number 6 Saleen was registered that year. Steve Saleen thought the whole thing was a hoot and a tradition was born. No number 6 Saleen exists - ever!
