That is why they called the '94 to '98 mustangs during the design period, the Arnold Schwarzenegger concept for it's bulky, round look.
For the '99 to '04 models, the concept model was called RAMBO for it's hard, edgy chiseled lines.

The Mustang underwent some major re-styling changes for 1969, with a more steeply raked windshield and swept back face (incorporating four head lamps) and more muscular flanks. For the first time, the familiar corralled running pony disappear from the grille, replace by the "Horse and Bars emblem. The wheel base remained at 108 inches and the car's width was up fractionally over the 1967-68 version, buts it overall length grew nearly four more inches atop the further upgraded Falcon-derived platform. (from the book "The Mustang Dynasty).

I agree. The first time I saw a 67/68 Fastback I thought it looked so small compared to what it looked like in pictures.
