all the pistons are in the block now and just have the rest of the shortblock to put together.we had an issue with one set of oil rings and had to order another set but all is well now.this time next week the motor should be in the car.

rampant racing 08-31-2012 09:55 PM

got the cam bolts and the car will be back together next weekend i hope.i still have to finish the headers though so a while yet before it is running again.looking forward to hearing it run again and driving it.i might manage to get to the track this fall in the cold air and see if i can try to catch up to bob and tara(the american record holder for a 4.0l v6 at 11.65 @117mph) or at least get close.i have actually been thinking about a dual turbo system for the car that will look awsome coming through the hood with no hood scoop.thinking about raising my intake so it also comes through the hood with longer runners and the turbos to the sides and the plumbing all polished to the nines and make it's looks as good as it cooks.

Pics look great. Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

rampant racing 09-09-2012 09:13 PM

i was hoping to have the engine in this weekend but i have been sick since friday.what a waste of a weekend.maybe next week if weather permits.

rampant racing 09-12-2012 08:56 PM

engine is going back in tomorrow i hope.. if the weather holds.

rampant racing 09-13-2012 05:49 PM

engine and trans went together today but the studs on the new converter are standard not metric so i have to wait till tomorrow to get some 3/8" 24tpi nuts so i can hookup the tc.also gonna really clean up the engine bay before it goes back in the car.

well a huuuuuuuge branch from the neighbors tree came down on the stang and did some serious damage to trigger.this is the third time this tree has damaged my vehicles.city won't make him take it down and i have already trimmed it straight up the property line.i am sueing him this time.the last time it crushed our olds intrigue and we had to buy the mustang to replace it.now this.i have had enough he is not getting away with it this time.

Brutal, hope it isn't too bad to fix.

def67 09-16-2012 02:48 PM

Damn that really sucks, How bad is the damage?

rampant racing 09-16-2012 04:39 PM

a few thousand dollars.almost every panel on the car has some damage to it.rear left 1/4 is the worst and then the roof but scratches and small dents everywhere.

That really sucks to hear Gary. Hope you get this settled!
Your build is really coming together, just sucks for this hiccup you now encountered!

rampant racing 09-19-2012 10:56 AM

the insurance adjuster just left and the damage total is $6502.00.it is going in for repair on oct.1st and will take about three weeks they tell me.they promised me it will be as good as new with zero marks on the car.i have decided that i now have the time to install the engine in the car before the bodywork gets done.they said they will completely wrap the motor and engine compartment to prevent overspray.i am looking forward to the finished product.

rampant racing 09-23-2012 09:35 PM

motor is going in tomorrow afternoon or tuesday morning then off to the bodyshop on the 1st of oct.

rampant racing 10-31-2012 07:39 AM

well the car is painted and is being polished.they still have to install all the black trim pieces around doors etc but it turned out very nice.i took off the window scoops and replaced them with the shr see through window louvers that actually replace the window glass itself.the scoops looked great but made it a bit of a pita to get out of driveways etc because of the blindspot.also the scoops did not function for brake cooling or any other form of useful purpose and it always bothered me a little that they were fake.my hood scoop is functional for cooling the engine and feeding it cool intake air.will post some pics when i get it back from the shop.

Glad to hear the paint turned out ok. I've been thinking about those 1/4 windows as well. The covers are nice but backing out of angle parking is terrible with them.

DublDee 11-01-2012 09:58 AM

I love the looks of my quarter window covers, but yeah the visibility thing has got me debating wether to take them off or not. :?

1low03gt 11-01-2012 09:04 PM

Cool stuff Gary!!! Those quarter louvered glass are very sweet!

hey there ! been a while. just got the motor back in the car yesterday after having an issue with some oil lines in late 2013 causing the rebuilt motor to burn up some bearings and did some crank damage so had to take it apart again and rebuild it . my daughter passed away on april 5th 2014 so that also set things back but family first. my grandson who is two years old is living with us and has been since he was one year old. as you can imagine time is a luxury now as the little fella keeps me hoppin but I love it. I just have to hook up the stuff on the motor like the blower and all that . hope to get a drive in it before the snow flies. will be ready for next year though.

Autonut 09-24-2015 04:44 AM

Sounds like everything is coming together for you. Enjoy your grandson and have fun with the car. :tup

rampant racing 10-05-2015 09:04 PM

it's running now ,had it out for a drive today and all seems well. had a couple of small issues with water leaks and such but its all good. needs to go for another tune at marken performance in Kitchener for some fine tuning.

Autonut 10-06-2015 04:59 AM

You got it finished just in time to put it away for the winter. LOL

rampant racing 10-09-2015 07:15 PM

yup but ready for next spring!!

this is awsome a site where you dont get bashed on for modding a v6 and being told just buy a v8. I am new to this site i have a 2009 4.0 v6 mustang with bolt ons and 91 octane. It is nice to see people modding their v6 mustangs.

roddy 04-18-2017 06:31 PM

You won't see any bashing here. There are a few of us around with modified 4.0 cars.
