I am not expecting it to sound like a v8......but i do want to enjoy hearing it while driving around town though... it is a little louder then when i first got it, but not enough for me. So i want to get something thats a fair bit louder, with no drone and have a deep throaty sound.

I would go with the Magnaflow setup like I mentioned. I know a fellow in Edmonton that put Pypes on his ride, they were so loud that if you wanted to have a conversation with him, he had to shut off his Mustang. A beefy noise is fine as long as it does not split your eardrum.

I believe the Magnaflow setup for my 2005 was $735.00 installed but it might be a little higher for your ride.

That was my biggest disappointment when I took out a '12 3.7 for a test drive. On the boil it sounded really good, but just cruising around town no one would know you had a dual exhaust unless they were staring at your rear end. Which kinda surprised me, because the 4.0 had a nice subdued rumble right from the get-go in '05.

I think i am going to do just axle backs as well so i can install it myself.... not saying i couldn't from axle back, but don't know if there is an advantage going from axle back to cat back.

One thing you might want to do is to determine if the axle backs will affect your warranty coverage. If you interfere with the catalytic converter your warranty may be null and void. Your best bet is to check with the dealer service department, assuming your Mustang is still under warranty.

well i got news for ya my friend and don't take this the wrong way but ya should have bought a v8 if that's what ya want.this motor was not designed to ever exhibit those characteristics.it is a 4 valve cammer v6 with only 3.7l displacement.your wishes are not realistic at all.put whatever muffler you want on it ,it will make no difference, you will nver get a no drone ,louder ,deeper sound from it...EVER! try a set of factory gt mufffs on it before you spend a bunch on some hyped up junk.i did it, i know, trust me most are a waste of time.you can have louder if you want but they will drone and always sound high pitched at wot because that is the nature of the motor.the best way i found to make a v6 sound good is to shut it up,keep it quiet and carry a big stick.put a blower or turbo on it and listen to that .it worked for me.good luck and enjoy.

Simon there is no need to buy a GT to get a throaty sound. There are various exhaust kits out there that will provide a deeper sound and improve your gas mileage also. I have the deeper sound with mine and it gets lots of raves from various folks. There are some that are into super loud though and you cannot say them from the GT viewpoint. I guess it all comes down to dollars and in my case I did not want to spend an additional $15-20,000.00 for a GT. What helps with the deeper sound with mine besides the Magnaflow exhaust is the MAC CAI and the Brenspeed Tune. When you read these posts Simon you have to remember that everyone has the right to an opinion and to post accordingly. I am just a little tired of the 4.0 being driven into the ground, its a good product a deserves a little more respect.

he doesn't have a 4.0l ray,he has the 3.7 and it is a different creature altogether.i agree the v6's don't get enough respect and i am doing the best i can to change that fact lol.yes you can get a muffler that rumbles nicely at idle but sounds like *** under wot.alsoyou can get one that is very quiet at idle and sounds great at wot,it's hard to get both with a v6 with four valves per cylinder.i like the stock gt muffler sound on the 4.0 but to each his own and people like different things so pick the one you like and have at er.problem is finding out how they sound before you buy them.that's the tricky part.lol good luck.ps my buddy had the magnaflow and dynomax and they both droned alot.

According to all the write ups the 3.7 is suppose to be superior to the 4.0 with a smaller engine and more horsepower. Guess if I had the cash I could buy a 2013 and compare the 2005 4.0 to the 2013 3.7. From what your telling me the 3.7 is not all its cracked up to be....me bad I guess. You are quite right in the fact that there is no place you can go to see the different exhaust systems in action. I just went by what was recommended by a friend that had the Magnaflows on his 05. I like the appearance and sound on my 05...to each his own. We all recommend what we like.

Thanks for the inputs, I have a 2013 v6 3.7L

I am not going to get it to sound like a GT or a GT500 and i know this. I would like it to be a little louder when driving so i can hear it a bit. I have bumper to bumper warranty for 100,000 or 7 years. I will pop in to see if axle back exhaust and CAI will void warranty or not before getting anything.

I bought my car in Edmonton and brought it back to Saskatchewan. The dealership that i got it from actually installs aftermarket exhaust, CAI, tuners and such so i have to ask locally if it will void if i do this stuff.

Thanks guys.
