Need transmission
#23
The set up I have now is hydraulic at pedal then external clutch slave cylinder. I know pre 85 mustangs had external clutch slave cylinder. The measurements of trans.in car now are 24-bell to shifter.6 inch bell. Trans hidden after trans.mount but c4 trans which I'm sure thi is are about 29 inches long so sounds about right. The best info I have found on this is in the tech section on the ranger station site which it states I can use a t5 from a 2.9 if I use the bell from a 2.8 mustang. I was just hoping to confirm this before I buy any more parts.
I am also thinking of going ahead and pull motor and trans. Then I would know better what I'm looking for. This is what I'm hopping the bell in the car now will let me bolt the t5 on. If not then I half to keep looking for a mustang bell

Thanks roddy for your help. You where spot on the trans from all v 6 family work together. I found a 89 ranger for sale close by missing 2.9 engine. Picture showed trans. sitting in back of truck. Contacted guy only to find out I knew him. He let me take trans home and it did fit. He phoned last night and decided to part out truck so he sold me trans for $150 Problem solved. Info for further use. M50D-R1 (Mazda built )5 seed trans.for 2.9 fits 2.8 2.9 4.0 but same model trans. M50D-R1 from a 2.3 will not fit. The bell housings are not remove able. If you put them side by side they look the same except bolt patterns do not line up on bell. The two top bolts are a dead give away v-6 are approx.4.5 a part and 2.3 i4 are approx. 5.5 a part. Fly wheel bolt pattern is also different. Thanks again

Awesome. I was thinking a 2WD 2.9 Ranger or bronco II would be pretty near to what you want, but I couldn't find the measurements to back it up. Good to hear.
I'm in Prince Edward, and technically speaking, it is an island, but it is not THE Prince Edward Island. Rather, a County in Ontario...that little piece of land that sticks out into the Eastern end of Lake Ontario. I get that a lot, lol.
