v6

I guess you fixed the tranny. Is it an automatic? If so do you lauch in first gear/second then drive or is this not done? This year you can wail on the challengers.

For me it was the choice of a V6 convertible or a GT coupe for about the same price. Since I've had 3 other Mustangs (76 302, 66 inline 6 and 86 5L) and an RX-7 Turbo, none of which were verts, I wanted a convertible. A GT Vert was still quite a bit more expensive by a few thousand.

I totally agree with Sprout, that the V6 performance thing is more like a hobby of it's own, there's not much in the way of performance parts that are made new for the V6, so you spend quite a bit of time doing research, finding parts / suppliers etc - that's half the fun, I think.

My goal is 400 rwhp, which I think is doable. Once I get there, I'll be very happy, drop the top and cruise around on weekends in the summer.

Super Six Motorsports is running 10.85 with a 90 shot.
Come on now.... lets compare apples to apples. I am talking about stock. Hey, I knew a 1000hp Ford Pinto back in the day...lol Peace.

You guys can shat on me if you like but come on, you picked a v6 over a v8 because it was a challenge and parts are hard to find! If that statement don't take the cake. And also it is better if a v6 does 13's than a v8 that does 13's. Shake my head.

If you had went the v8 and put what you put into a v6 than you would have had a 10 sec v8. come on guys. You bought the v6 for what ever reason but it was not for performance. Face it, they are not powerful. Not even for a present day v6. come to think of it GM is putting out 400 hp out of their v8 and we are 300 out of ford v8. so the v8 is low even to this day.

I almost bought a v6 rag top but changed my mind at the last min and bought the mach1. I also was debating rag or coupe gt. I knew fast was gt and slower was rag top. Than I switched to gt rag top and thought I can have the best of both world's. I than saw the more powerful Mach and got it.

Now for me to say Oh yea I bought the mach so that I could spend goobs of money to keep up with Cobra's. What ever, Cobras are faster than Machs and that is that. Yea I can spend money but so can they and I will never catch up.

Like the car you got and hey if a v6 beats me fine, but he or she is not gonna beat me on a level playing field. It's funny at the drags when a v6 or a older v8 runs with you and they come up and say I only spent 3000 on parts and I got you. Good for you, if I spent 3000 it would not have even been close.

Peace.

gfong read my post again before you go on a ridiculous rant like that. I didn't say that a 13 sec V6 is BETTER then a 13 sec V8, just more impressive, cause of the fact that GT's can run 13's very easily, a V6 can't.

Second get off this "If you had spent that much on a V8 you could be that much faster" crap, on a USED car yes but when you go buy a new mustang the GT is $5 grand+ more then a V6, I can slap on a Procharger and keep up with your GT and still have spent LESS. When you are referring to buying an old used Fox 5.0L sure its cheaper to go the 5.0L route, agreed.

Don't tell me why i bought my V6 I know why, you don't. I used to own an 88 5.0L notchback. I do'nt work on my V6 to keep up with GT's or Cobra's I do it cause I like to, its a challenge and something not many others do, its different. Is there a problem with that? Or are you just jealous cause there are V6's running faster then you? :cry2: :laughhard

Beat you on a level playing field? Name two modifed cars that are identical and then we will talk about a level playing field. Even driver weights can change the outcome of a race so there will NEVER be a level playing field, thats the joy of drag raings its bring what ya brung racing.

In the long run a V8 will ALWAYS outrun a V6 when it comes to who has the most money to spend, you can always spend more ont he V8 to get it to go faster, "No replacement for Displancement" is very true, but that doesn't mean V6's can't compete. Go to Performacne world and check out the 1186 RWHP Twin Turbo V6 Grand National, tell me thats not impressive? Heck more impressive then a V8 that runs 8? Dmn straight it is.

I don't see anyone raggin on V8 guys for comparing yourselves to Vipers, everyone is always impressed when a Cobra outruns a viper or something, thats not fair though is it? After all the viper has 2 more cylinder then Mustangs GT's and Cobra's.

You like your V8 thats cool, so do I, I love the V8, the sound the power, its awesome, but I also love the V6 and the challenge it imposes. SO live with it.

Yeah it's an automatic, was all I could find I'm not sure if I fixed the problem or not since I haven't been back to the track and haven't launched it like that. I tried all sorts of different things and when I braketorqued it stuff started making funny noises when I let off the brake and I barely had any power for a few seconds. I know it's capable of more if I had a better transmission. But in the video it's basically stock except for the 17" wheels.

So far on my project, I've spent less than $2000 including engine, rear end, supercharger pulley, chip, tires, engine rebuild kit, cam and raised supercharger top. So that's $6600 including the car. Not like I'm dropping an insane ammount of cash into it and I'll still be getting some good times once all is said and done.

In the end, it's something different than all the rest. I don't want to be the exact same as the next guy. I don't know of a single doneup 3.8 Mustang in the Windsor area and I wouldn't mind being the first with a good contender at the track days.

All about being differnt, I like that, just like the guy putting a 5.0L in a Miata over on GTAMC.com, I hate the MIata's but think the swap is cool cause its different, its getting to be popular but still not a lot of them out there, at least around here. So I think its cool, I liek anything thats different, show's uniquness (sp?)

Flynnt, if you need any help with your conversion let me know, I also have the Supercoupe motor in my stang.
